Internship

To complete the internship, RAPIL candidates will be hired on an IAC 279 probationary contract to teach in an Iowa secondary classroom. They will have the same rights and responsibilities as all other contracted probationary teachers within the district.

Contract: Must be for .5 FTE or greater, with at least 50% of the teaching assignment in the Intern’s endorsement area *RAPIL Interns are NOT eligible for Class B conditional licensure. *Courses assigned outside the endorsement(s) on an intern's license may only be those categorized as “962 Valid License with an endorsement for appropriate grade” on the BEDS Crosswalk.

Licensure: Iowa BoEE Teacher Intern License

The Intern must fully participate in the district’s mentorship program.

Supervision and support is provided by RAPIL faculty and staff throughout the internship year. In addition RAPIL Interns are evaluated four times each semester by their RAPIL Evaluator (comparable to a Supervisor in an undergraduate program).

One of the best first year teachers I've hired. I am very impressed with RAPIL based on her work.
