As a high school teacher, I taught sheltered American Studies, Success Center, Intermediate 1 English Language Development, and High Intermediate English Language Development for students identified as ELLs. I also taught Ethnic Studies and AP Psychology. I've also taught dual-credit courses Topics in Education and Exceptional Persons to high school students interested in becoming teachers at Kirkwood Community College.
I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Iowa pursuing a PhD in Teaching and Learning in the Literacy, Culture, and Language Education program. My research interests include teacher education, culturally relevant pedagogy, language policy, and social context of education.
I am the Associate Director of Partnerships and Programs in the Baker Teacher Leader Center at the University of Iowa College of Education. Prior to this role, I taught high school social studies and students identified as English Language Learners for four years.
